The mission and goals of DERC&D are accomplished by assisting organizations in our region with the development of projects. Projects have traditionally been community and economic development in nature and are based on conserving the natural and human resources in the area. Services can include planning, acting as a fiscal agent, looking for funding and assisting with implementation. Fiscal agent services include the rights and privileges of the council's IRS authorization as a non-profit. This is often used by small organizations just getting started who have a great project and do not want to incorporate and become IRS authorized.
Projects are brought to the Council for approval by individuals and organizations who have ideas that will have a positive effect on the economy and environment. The Council has completed over 450 projects, with major emphasis in one or both counties.
