VISION:
An efficient intermodal transportation network supporting eastern
Maine's
economic and community development that includes roads, air, water, and
rail systems.
MISSION:
To work as a partner with Maine Department of Transportation and the
private
sector to identify and develop opportunities for freight and passenger
rail service on the Brewer to Calais rail corridor.
GOALS:

Determine
cost and benefit of
rehabilitation and operation of the Brewer to Calais Railway

Identify
and promote potential
rail use

Act in an
advisory role to the
Maine Department of Transportation, Rail Division, as proposals for
line
use emerge
STRATEGIES:
Ask the Maine Department of Transportation:

for basic custodial
service of the railway
-
to list examples of
passenger, excursion,
recreation, and freight trains to Eastport (e.g. New England Southern,
Blueberry Coastal Railroad)
BENCHMARK:
The
percent of all manufacturing freight shipped in the state that goes by
rail, water, or air will improve from 18% in 1991 to 24% in 2000 (MEGC)

Meetings are not held on a regular schedule and the
site of the
meetings may vary from meeting to meeting. Roland "Skip" Rogers

the Federal Marine Terminal in Eastport is the chair for the group and
